Just another day in the life of Joshua Gold or that is how it is supposed to begin. Supposed to is always an interesting concept. Assumptions are dangerous. How many of us assume that we will wake up in the morning? I would think the majority of us. We sort of need to believe that on some level. How else can we handle our lives? If you knew this was your last day what would you do? Probably not try to make appointments for tomorrow, not plan to see your grandchildren next month or plan that vacation. Things would be very different. So when you hear “live today like it is your last”, does that really make sense? It is not intended for you to really live like today is your last day. It means embrace each day with gusto. Don’t put things off. Though it is with the assumption that there is a tomorrow. So what do we do with that? Just a thought. Is this something I should bring up in a discussion with anyone? Will people think I am silly?  Does it really matter what people think? Christian suggests that we be polarizing so that we attract people that understand us. The others are not to take up our space or time. Those are not my people. They do not belong to the same tribe. But what if you have tribe crossover…Huh? what is tribe crossover? It’s where you get along with different groups of people. Cross pollination kind of. I can get along with a lot of different tribes. Throughout my life I have been in different tribes. The Jewish Tribe the foodie tribe the triathlete tribe the artistic tribe and so on. There are definitely tribes that I don’t fit into! Those are pretty easy to distinguish. So when writing and being polarizing who do I want to offend?:)
People with different values and principles. That is more of what a tribe seems to be. Not Jews or artists or foodies or athletes. But those of you who believe in the same things, feel the same things, value the same things.
How many of you have sat down and thought of what you value. Not your car or house but love and what that means to you. Trust and truth and honesty and loyalty and integrity and kindness.
Warmth and openness and respect and listening.
Patience and understanding and being authentic. Those are values that I want in the people that I am surrounded by. How about you.? Who do you want to be surrounded by? Let me know in the comments below…

  1. Agreed! Live life with gusto. I need to get my gusto back. I too am a BIG believer in it being ok to be polarizing. Sometimes I have to get up my nerve in certain scenarios but it truly is best to be authentic.
